Beauty Subscription Review: Ricky’s Cult Crushes May 2018

Y’all know by now that I love my beauty subscription boxes, including Lip Monthly and Ricky’s Cult Crushes.  This month, I received the Cult Crushes box as usual and love all the products so much that I want to share my goodies with y’all. If you have never heard of this beauty subscription box, it costs $14 a month and features 5 makeup, skincare, haircare, or fashion products and usually at least one is full size. In the past, I’ve received full-size eyeshadow palettes, lip glosses, big packs of micellar face wipes, dry shampoo, high-end facial toner, et cetera. Needless to say, this subscription box provides daily essentials that you would actually need or want to buy. In my experience, I’ve used up entire products from this box and incorporated some products into my daily routine. Keep reading to see what I got in my Ricky’s Cult Crushes Box this month!

Pure Paw Paw Ointment

This shiny yellow tube of skincare immediately caught my eye when I opened the box. I have heard of the paw paw plant before and its popularity in Australian skincare, but I had never tried it until now.  Pure Paw Paw Grape feels like a thick ointment or salve that designed to treat dry skin, chapped lips, insect bites, and more. I also love the grape scent and the adorable packaging. This paw paw cream only costs $5 and would make a cute stocking stuffer or gift. This is a win for me!

J. Cat Beauty Aura Glow Liquid Highlighter

In the summer, we spend more time outside and all tend to get a little (or a lot) of sun. For me, this means a bit of healthy color on my fair skin. With that said, this $9 golden liquid highlighter was such a brilliant inclusion in the box this month! We are all a bit darker from the sun and this highlighter can just enhance the summer glow. If you are wondering how to use the J. Cat Beauty Aura Glow Liquid Highlighter, it’s simple. All you have to do is mix a drop or 2 of this highlighter with your foundation and apply as usual. It gives your skin a subtle glow. I’m using it with my foundation today and will post a selfie this afternoon to my Instagram to show y’all show how it looks!

Comodynes Make-Up Remover Wipes

DSC_2426You can never go wrong with another pack of makeup remover wipes. These Comodynes Makeup Remover Wipes have micellar solution that pulls out dirt and oil from the skin with little effort. This is actually a substitute item for a Bioderma product, but I’m not bothered by it. Wipes are always a necessity, especially if I’m really tired and don’t feel like washing off my makeup at the end of the night, I can just use one of these $6 wipes.

The Laundress Wash & Stain Bar

DSC_2425 This wild card item,The Laundress Wash & Stain Bar , couldn’t have come at a better time. The other night, I was wearing a white v-neck t-shirt as I was eating a few slices of Trader Joe’s dark chocolate-covered bananas and the chocolate shavings stained my shirt! Since I am out of my stain remover, this stain bar is so handy! This bar only costs $6 and it’s easy to use. What a smart find!

BH Cosmetics Sculpt and Blend Mini 3 Piece Brush Set

DSC_2429Since I’ve received some amazing palettes in the last few Cult Crushes boxes (including this neutral one and this colorful one), I am grateful that they included this BH Cosmetics Eyeshadow Brush Set. These brushes are ideal for blending, packing on color, and crease work. BH Cosmetics is an affordable brand and these brushes probably cost under $10 total.

So, that was my Cult Crushes box for this month. I always enjoy the variety of items, but my favorite is probably the brush set. Fun fact: I used to be at pro status when it comes to eyeshadow in high school. While I was the makeup artist for Drama Club and rocking serious stage makeup as a varsity cheerleader, I lost touch with eyeshadow over the last 10 years and focused on lipstick. Now that I have some proper palettes and brushes, I’m ready to jump back in! Gosh, I wish I had photos to show y’all my cheerleader makeup looks. They were intense (haha)!

Anyways, thank you for reading and let me know what you think of this month’s box!
