Today’s Style Story is all about this fresh floral romper and velvet heels. Whenever I want to feel pulled together for any summer occasion, I reach for a romper. While some rompers can be too short, too low-cut, and too sexy, this Ann Taylor Loft romper makes me feel covered, stylish, and flirty. While I bought these pieces last year, this BCBG romper is very similar for quality and price. Do you wear rompers or jumpsuits? There are jumpsuits and rompers for every age and body type out there. Currently, I have my eye on this white jumpsuit under $30, this green romper I could take into the Fall, and this black romper that’s perfect for a summer BBQ.
Since this romper has a deep v-neck in the back, I decided to use my hair extensions to add length to my ponytail for a casual, flirty look. I love using my clip-ins to achieve a full, lush ponytail that goes down my back. It feels effortless and super feminine. As for unexpected details, I wore a coral colored bra to peek out a bit in the back. If you don’t want your bra to show in a low-cut back shirt or dress, you could also try a black or navy bra that blends in OR invest in a nude adhesive bra.
As for the other details, like my shoes and makeup, I was inspired by the corals and pale pinks in the floral design of my romper. If you look closely, there are so many fun shades in this pattern! At first, I thought about wearing white wedges or neutral espadrilles, but the blush pink tones were begging for my Thred Up Marc Fischer velvet heels. Anytime I can incorporate multiple textures (cotton, ruffles, velvet) in the same color palette into my outfit, I am aesthetically pleased. P.S I talk more about these velvet heels here.
Once I got dressed, I fiddled around with my makeup palettes and decided to keep my eyes simple with a creamy orange color called Brûlée from my Pinky Rose Bright Lights Palette that I received in my Ricky’s Cult Crushes beauty subscription box. If are in need of a brighter orange or coral eyeshadow that still looks pretty tame and understated, try the cult-favorite Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette that actually smells like peaches! Finally, my favorite part of my beauty routine: lipstick. Whenever I wear navy blue, I like to contrast the blue with a warm lipstick color, such as coral or strawberry pink. With that said, I swiped on the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Berlin. If you need a matte, long-lasting lipstick, this is the winner right here. It is worth every penny of its $20 price tag because it feels like you’re not even wearing lipstick, it is so lightweight! If you are ready to dive right in and try them out, I also recommend the shade Lolita II,a brownish, reddish brick nude that is flattering on everyone and office appropriate.
In hindsight, I don’t love this creamy orange eyeshadow on me with this lipstick, but it works well with the color wheel for picking out the right eyeshadow shades for blue eyes. How would you style this romper? What eyeshadow palettes are you loving right now? Let me know in the comments below!
