Last week, my mom and I went on a cruise together for 4 days and it was absolutely incredible! We had both been on a few cruises in the past, but never as just the two of us. This past year, we decided that we want to prioritize our time together and see each other every few months. Since she is in West Virginia and 6 hours away from me in Nashville, we were meeting up in Lexington, KY as a midpoint for weekends full of spa treatments, martinis, and shopping. While this is always a fun, affordable, and easy option, we decided to go big and book a cruise together for this summer.
Since my mom and I are both natural planners, we hit the ground running with choosing a cruise line and dates. In the past, I had taken a cruise through Alaska with Carnival Cruise Line and was really impressed by the organization and value of Carnival. And so, we chose the Carnival Liberty for our mother-daughter trip and never looked back.
My mom and I are teachers, so we were itching to kick off our summer vacation time (two months straight!) with a tropical trip to the Bahamas. We pored through the various ports of call and decided unanimously on Nassau and Freeport. While we cruised through the blue waters, we took full advantage of all the on-deck activities, including pool parties, spa and salon treatments, live music and dancing, and musical theater shows. It was a very indulgent trip in the sense that we could primp, shop, eat, drink, and relax without worrying about catching up with the rest of our family. Yes, we left our husbands at home, but we just had a whale of a time! If you’d like, keep reading to see some fun highlights (including outfits) from my Carnival Liberty cruise to the Bahamas!

For Formal Night, we visited the spa (see below) and got all dressed up. This is one of the photography booths they offered.

I will add more photos as I receive them from my mom, but this photo diary really makes me smile. My mom and I had a blast and I’m very grateful that we treated ourselves to such a lovely trip with each other. Have you ever been on a cruise? If so, let me know in the comments!
So glad you had a great time! The pictures are beautiful and I especially love your new turtle dress! ❤️
Thank you, Liz!! You are the sweetest
Okay, I’m sold. This looks like so much fun. I especially like the kayaking – would love to try that
What an awesome trip you two had–and how nice that you two were able to just get away for a few days. What a nice way to relax and take a break from teaching. Those views and drinks look fabulous!! xx Jenifer
