Whether you celebrate Valentine’s Day with girlfriends or a significant other, this winter holiday should make you feel loved and beautiful. When February rolls around, I relish in all the festivities: browsing valentine cards, baking sweet treats, and wearing lots of red! Speaking of red, what is your approach to Valentine’s Day makeup? Do you have a favorite lipstick that you wear on special occasions? Today, I’m sharing 3 different colors that I’ll be sporting all month long and that you might like to try for Valentine’s Day.
Pictured above, I’m rotating 3 lip products this month: a creme lipstick, matte metallic, and lip gloss. Keep reading to see what colors I recommend this month!
Flower Matte Metallic Liquid Lip Color in “Crimson Venom”
When looking for a red lip color this year, I wanted drama. Any makeup brand can release a beautiful red matte lip color (like this MAC one), but I like reds that offer something a little different, like a chrome finish. When applied at the beginning of a date, this highly pigmented formula appears brick red and smooth. A few hours later, it wears down into a beautiful bronzey-red stain.
I love to swipe this red lipstick on when I’m wearing a black velvet top and jeans for a casual date. If you want to try a red metallic for Valentine’s Day, you can find the Flower Metallic Lipstick in Crimson Venom for $10 at Ulta.
Appeal Cosmetics Luxurious Lipstick in “Vamp”
Another flirty color I’ve been drawn to for Valentine’s Day is a lilac pink lipstick. I received this glossy purple shade a few months back and I’m always getting compliments on it. The color instantly brightens up my pale skin and feels appropriate for work or happy hour.
If you are thinking about trying purple lips for this holiday, consider the $10 Appeal Cosmetic’s Vamp Lipstick. I am also a huge fan of Mac’s Rebel, a deep plum that always draws out a compliment from my husband. Where do you stand on purple lips?
Nyx Cosmetics Butter Gloss in Crème Brûlée
For a low-key makeup look on Valentine’s Day, you can’t go wrong with a classic pink gloss. This lip color is low-maintenance and keeps your lips protected from the cold. After years of trying glosses, I have found a few that I swear by, including Nyx Cosmetics Butter Gloss in “Crème Brûlée.” It retails for $3 and smells like dessert. Never sticky, this gloss feels smooth and delivers a creamy pink pigment.
What lipstick do you reach for during Valentine’s Day festivities? Do you stick to a traditional theme of pink, purple, and red makeup or do you use this as an opportunity to experiment? Either way, I hope this post inspires you to try something new in your makeup bag. Let me know if you have any questions or comments about the lip colors or formulas!
