When spring-cleaning and spending more time outdoors, I’m always eager to start the new season with a fresh tube of lipstick or a new spring outfit. This season, I’m reaching for corals for daytime and work to wear with white blouses and swingy dresses. For night time, I put away the vampy purple shades in favor of brown lips paired with a black dress. What are your favorite lip colors for Spring? Keep reading to see which two lip colors I’ve been wearing around the clock.
For Daytime and Work
Every girl has a “power” color in her lipstick arsenal, and orange has always been mine. While this color can be tough to pull off if you don’t use a teeth whitener from time to time (I whiten every Sunday), orange is such a bold, confident shade that instantly brightens up any complexion. Aptly named “Teacher’s Pet,” this coral shade has a powdery finish that feels light and airy, just like Springtime. At $9 a tube, this lip powder lipstick is affordable and a quick way to update your look.
To bring out the orange tones of the lipstick a bit more, I lined the bottom lash line of my eyes with a warm pumpkin brown eyeshadow and dusted my upper eyelids with a light creamy beige shadow called “Whatevs” by Ulta’s generic brand. If you are shy to try bold tangerine lip colors like this one, you can ease in by trying a coral gloss that still brings warmth and radiance to your complexion, like the Too Faced Sweet Peach Lip Oil in “Peach Tease.” At $19, this coconut-oil based gloss is pricier but splurging on makeup is one of the simple pleasures in life, right?
For Nights Out and Dinner Dates
This 90s-inspired brown lip reminds me of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in her prime. Lately, I’ve been gravitating towards a matte brown lipstick with red undertones, like Nyx Lip Oil in “Beyond Basic.” This $8 brown shade is a fresher take on a dark lip and looks effortless if done right. I love to pair this brown lip oil with a black dress for a date.
The key to finding the right brown lipstick is looking for one that has the right amount of red in it. The warm terracotta shade “Yum” by Flesh is also a favorite for most skin tones. Once I swiped on the brown lip oil, I added some warm brown eyeshadow to my eyelid crease to provide some definition and contour.
Have you ever tried a rosy brown lip for a night time look? If you are looking for some lip colors to try for Spring, I hope you have fun and try something new! Thanks for reading and let me know if you need any product suggestions!
